These products and services can be integrated into a single, easy to use system that is monitored by trained professionals at our UL and Factory Mutual-approved Sonitrol Regional Central Station. The headquarters of Sonitrol of the Carolinas, a proud part of Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, are located in Charlotte, NC, where we manage and operate thousands of alarm systems throughout the Carolinas. We also operate sales and service departments in the Greenville, SC.
Sonitrol Security's mission is to provide our customers with the latest and most comprehensive security products and services supported by trained and certified associates. Our fifty two associates provide Sales, Service, Installation and Monitoring services under the Sonitrol banner. We are members of the Professional Security Associates, NBFAA (both national and local chapter) and the Chamber of Commerce in Charlotte, Union and Gaston County, Greensboro and Spartanburg and Greenville, SC.
A history of innovation and expertise
Our Beginnings
Over 60 years ago, SONITROL was established with the help of a police officer, aiming to decrease false alarms and enhance criminal apprehensions. In 1960, Robert Baxter from Anderson, Indiana, installed microphones in building walls to detect termites and locate them accurately. After developing several sound-related inventions, Baxter met local police officer Al Cronk in 1963. Frustrated with ineffective security systems, Cronk collaborated with Baxter to create a new alarm company. This led to the development of the audio sensor and the founding of SONITROL as a security company in 1964. SONITROL Today Today, SONITROL remains at the forefront of security, state-of-the-art solutions when and where you need them most, with services available in cities across North America. With an expanding national and international network catering to customers of all sizes, we possess the expertise to customize the perfect security solution for your needs.
1960
Robert Baxter Incorporates, “SONITROL”
Baxter combined the words "sound" and "control" to create "SONITROL," a brand dedicated to manufacturing and marketing his innovative.
1963
Robert Baxter Meets Al Cronk
Baxter encounters Cronk a local police officer, who ran an alarm company. Together, they come together to establish SONITROL the next year.
1965
SONITROL Develops Its Network
SONITROL creates a franchise model and distribution network, establishing itself as largest franchise security network in the United States.
1968
SONITROL Sells Its First Franchise
In 1968, SONITROL launched its first franchise in Detroit, Michigan, marking the sale of its inaugural school security system. This franchise laid the groundwork for the involvement of several key individuals at SONITROL.
1973
SONITROL Changes Ownership
Acquired by a venture capital firm in Washington, D.C., led by Harry Flemming, the SONITROL Corporation has undergone a change in ownership.
1978
SONITROL Warranty Program Introduced
In 1978, SONROL launched our Warranty Program, providing the most robust guarantees in the industry.

Satisfaction Guarantee*
We guarantee the system will perform as represented. If at any time during the initial six months of service, you are not satisfied with the system or our performance and we cannot resolve your concerns, you may request a refund of the installation fee and we will cancel your agreement and remove your equipment.
Service Guarantee*
Sonitrol guarantees the arrival time of a service technician to your site and our ability to repair your system expeditiously, or we will provide a security guard to watch your site.
$10,000 & $15,000 Performance Warranties*
Sonitrol will pay the first $10,000 or $15,000 depending on the system that is installed of any loss if a forced intrusion entry is not detected and the proper authority is not notified.
False Alarm Guarantee
If you receive a fine for a false alarm that was caused by Sonitrol, we will represent you in canceling the fine or credit your account for the fine.
